Sweet Limon

Citrus limetta Risso
Mediterranean (cultivated)
Fun factSweet lemons look almost identical to the sour Marrakech limonette but taste sweet simply because their juice contains very little acid.

A vigorous, lemon-like citrus tree whose leaves are more oval, round-tipped and cupped than a true lemon's, with faintly purple new growth and blossom. The medium-sized round fruits have a flattened blossom end with a prominent nipple, a bumpy yellow-orange rind and pale yellow, low-seeded flesh whose juice is sweet rather than sour because of its very low acidity. It flowers and fruits year-round, and the fruit holds well on the tree.
